CCSVI treatment offers new hope for MS patients

In my blog last week I anticipated Dr. Wentz’s next project.  Little did I realize that one would show itself within a week.  A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to attend an informative call about the new CCSVI treatments now available at the  Sanoviv Medical Institute .   Located in beautiful Baja California, Mexico, Sanoviv is a  fully accredited, leading edge medical facility that specializes in Functional Medicine.  Based on the work of Paolo Zamboni, a professor of medicine at the University of Ferrara in Italy, a diagnosis and subsequent treatment of  chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) has been shown to alleviate many of the debilitating symptoms of MS (Multiple Sclerosis).

Using ultrasound to examine the vessels leading in and out of the brain, Dr. Zamboni found that in more than 90 per cent of people with Multiple Sclerosis,  the veins draining blood from the brain were malformed or blocked. In people without MS, they were not.

The research suggests that these blocked veins leak cellular waste into the adjacent tissue, resulting in an accumulation of toxins and deposition of iron. This has significant application to Multiple Sclerosis and suggests that the vascular aspect may be as significant as the neurological component in the disease process.
