Being an excellent listener usually means listening to the other person as s/he would want to be heard, which is what you probably do. We each have a different listening stylistic portfolio and often tend to project our preferences on others. We might look like we're actively engaged, but not really if we can't flex our listening style to the needs of the person or context. Thanks.
